Welcome to Give Hope Community Cares, a nonprofit born in 2023 in Midland, Texas, from a heartfelt mission to empower communities with education, advocacy, and resources that spark positive social change and tackle systemic inequalities. Founded by Latina Baker and Jeffery Wynn, we’re driven by a belief that no one should be left behind or go hungry. From our soon-to-open grocery store to emergency aid and career pathways, we’re committed to ending hunger and homelessness in the Permian Basin—step by step, hand in hand with our community. Our team, a blend of dedicated social advocates and corporate collaborators, works transparently with local businesses and neighbors to build a brighter future. Meet Our Founder

Latina Baker, Executive Director & Co-Founder

Latina Baker’s journey began in Detroit, leading her to Midland, Texas, with a longing to create a safe space where her story—and her heart—could shine without fear. Having lived in 19 foster homes by age six before finding a forever family, she knows the sting of hunger, the weight of unpaid bills, and the uncertainty of making ends meet—even with a job. But Latina didn’t just want to voice the pain; she chose to be the change. Guided by faith and a mission to heal, she co-founded Give Hope Community Cares with Jeffery Wynn to transform struggles into strength, starting right here in Texas. A motivated leader, Latina invites you to join her in building a community where everyone has a seat at the table and a chance to thrive.
